About this event Humanities subject bodies in the UK have long been concerned that the stories we tell about the value of the skills (or competencies) our subjects develop are not fully understood despite all the data that has been collected on the employability of our graduates. This is troubling at the current time when Humanities degrees face an existential threat. STEM subjects face a different challenge: the need to adapt the skills they develop in the age of AI. We also know that our description of skills is not sufficiently differentiated: for example, STEM claim many of the same skills as the Humanities, yet how we understand, say, ‘critical thinking’, is very different.
