An event by the Studies in Arts, Migration and Aurality Research Network. Participants About this event Mapping Resistance (2025) is a participatory sound installation addressing the imposed limits and possibilities of the Palestine solidarity movement in the UK. It combines hand-sewn fabric with hall effect sensors converting changes in magnetic fields to midi signals in Logic, using a self-built computer system and program. Visitors are invited to interact with a textile map of London’s boroughs, charting where acts of resistance have succeeded and where solidarity is experienced. By placing small magnetic markers on the fabric map, participants trigger changes in the audio environment. The more magnets attached to the board, the greater clarity of the soundscape in support of Palestine.
