There are several pathways to road freight electrification, and it is unclear what works best. Of the unknowns, the most important are the penalties of electrification in terms of time, payload capacity, and grid connections. The time penalty is affected by infrastructure type and energy consumption of electric HGVs. The first talk, by Dr Parth Deshpande, will cover formulating a theoretical approach to accounting for the penalties in terms of logistics costs. Some applications of this approach
